The 2016 Combined Federal Campaign is in full swing and will remain open for contributions until Dec. 15. This year's theme is, "Show some love."

The CFC is the world's largest and most successful workplace giving campaign. Since its creation in 1961 it has raised over $7 billion for charities designated by Federal employees. Last year, Federal employees in Maricopa County contributed more than $1.052 million, supporting more than 1,036 charities that respond to urgent needs within the community, nation and the world.

The 161st Air Refueling Wing has a proud tradition of participating in this noble program that enhances generosity by helping others less fortunate. In 2014, wing members donated $7,721 and in 2011, the wing's peak donation year, $14,662 was donated. The wing's CFC goal this year is $15,000. Donations start at just $10.

The mission of the CFC is to support and promote philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

Contributors may qualify for up to $800 in Arizona state tax credits this year - $400 charity and $400 for foster care donations. For qualifying CFC approved charities, members do not have to itemize as of 2013, and the credit is up to $400 for married filing joint, or $200 for single filers, which means give it and get it back when filing Arizona state tax credits. This is in addition to any school tax credits already submitted. Please consult your tax advisor or CPA for additional details.

Volunteer opportunities are available to assist as keyworkers in promoting and distributing materials for the Maricopa County Charity List and pledge forms. Thank you to those who have given before and to everyone for your continued support of the 2016 Maricopa County CFC approved charity campaign. Let's continue to serve our country and support our community together.
