Future Airmen Learn the Aircraft

The student flight from the 161st Air Refueling Wing, Phoenix takes a tour of an opened KC-135r Stratotanker as part of their in-processing and familiarization of the base June 8, 2014. U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Jeremiah Deegan, 161st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron officer, explains how ailerons work as he leads the students through the hanger. Capt. Jeff Robertson (not pictured), 161st Force Support Squadron readiness officer and student flight officer-in-charge explains the purpose of the student flight: “It [student flight] is a transition period from the time the students swear in until they leave for boot camp. We want them to soak up as much knowledge as possible about the unit, about the Air Force. This way they will have familiar faces to greet them when they come home.”
